Genesis 22:18;
Micah 5:2;
Jeremiah 31:15-17

1. Born from the line of Abraham
At the very beginning, it was prophesied that the savior was coming. God waited 42 generations to bring Jesus down.

2. Born in Bethlehem
We knew what Mary’s baby’s name would be. Jesus (God with us). Mary gives birth to Christ after not being able to find somewhere to stay, so Jesus was born in a manger in Bethlehem.

3. Born among sorrow
Jeremiah said this child will not be lost (like Rachel’s baby), but he will suffer. Jesus came into Bethlehem, and King Herod decided that he wanted every male child that was two years old and under.

The Coming Savior
Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; 11:1; & 61:1

The season leading up to the coming of the savior is known as Advent, which means, “the coming.” As Christians, we start in the Old Testament when we think of the coming of the Messiah.

The Savior was introduced way before we learn about the Virgin Mary and the baby lying in a manger. Seven hundred years before Christ, Isaiah prophesied to King Ahaz about the coming of Jesus.

Ahaz was guilty of being raised right, but chose to do wrong. The kingdoms were divided and Judah (Ajax’s kingdom) was in the south. A few kings came together and staged a war against Judah. Ahaz was very afraid and was visited by the prophet Isaiah. Isaiah told him God said whatever Ahaz wanted of Him, just ask. Ahaz didn’t want anything because he knew he had done wrong in the eyesight of God. Since Ahaz felt unworthy to ask Him anything, Isaiah asked.

Even though Ahaz didn’t ask of anything, the Lord still blessed him. Isaiah said the Lord would give Ahaz a sign. “Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son and shall call him Immanuel.” Immanuel means, “God with us.”

Even the government shall be upon His shoulders. (Is 9:6)

“There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse...” This child will have everything he needs. He has a mighty bloodline.

(Is 61:1-2). He sent Jesus to mend the broken hearted and to proclaim liberty to the captives.

Matthew 9:35-38

Luke 6, after spending an entire night in prayer, Jesus chose twelve individuals to participate with him in the proclamation of the kingdom of God.

Appointed Disciples:
1. To Look, Listen, Learn

2. To call people to repentance & submission to God’s rule

We are examples to so many people. Share with people what God has shared with you. We need to learn from those who have experienced things we haven’t. Once we really know who God really is, you can speak for yourselves.

3. To Engage in Spiritual warfare against Satan

You’ve got to deal with the word of God. Don’t go after Satan, because you’re going to lose. At the name of Jesus, you can speak His name and Satan will run!

Jesus prepared the disciples to be laborers in the harvest. He wanted them to go out and find others who would labor in his name also. He gave his disciples the perspective of advancing to the Kingdom of God. He knew that they would be persecuted. The harvest will bring hardship, hostility and sometimes physical death. Jesus trained the disciples to endure suffering as laborers.

A Summation of Jesus Galilean Ministry:
1. Preaching
2. Teaching
3. Healing

Jesus knows people (us); Not just because He created them (us), But rather, because He was one of them (us)!!!
